Tiles again!!!

After a lovely relaxing weekend visiting friends in Hobart, we arrived back yesterday to the news that our builder has changed tile suppliers, so we have to re-do all our tile selections at National Tiles!!  First bricks, now tiles - am I jinxed?

On a brighter note, our electrical rough-in has been done and the ducted vacuum rough in as well, although they seem to have forgotten about our kicker duct in the laundry - even though its on the specifications.

Another email to Romeo.

Welcome home...wondered where you were? nice break.

OMG hope you don't have to turn tile reselection around in 24 hours like bricks!!! not fair when your mind is made. Keep positive, you'll find replacements similar to original choices and in the end 'that happened for a reason'.

Front porch looks gorgeous; ready for inside. Build is progressing extremely well.

All things happen for a reason and I am sure you will find something just as fitting as the first selection. Let's hope you do get longer than the 24hours you had for the bricks. House is looking fantastic. Love the character which is coming out as it develops.

Jinx or catalyst for change - take your pick. (and pick again)... Sigh, so hard to go through the whole thing again (again). I feel for you. Hope you come back with something you like even more - and at least you know what you were aiming at now.

Obviously no-one consults the plans - especially for the laundry (has the dryer pipe been added?)

No dryer pipe - reckons it can't be done now, have offered a refund and a free exhaust fan instead, what do you think Deb? Starting to get over this build at the moment, with our own house now on the market as well, stress galore!

As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to building there is rarely a "can't" but rather "won't" (usually because of cost or time delay)... Sounds like they just want you to accept the cheapest (and quickest) fix.

Exhaust fan is better than nothing - at the moment our rental doesn't even have a window so we have to open the door (security door can stay shut) - and that works, but it's a bit of a pain. Having said that, I'm sure with a willing heart and a good bit of plaster you could effect the change after hand-over. I guess the question becomes whether you continue to push the builder or accept one of the alternatives.

Sounds like another RHDO for David??
What grouse fun getting to choose tiles again. Bet you find something you like even better. Spesh now you've got your whole house picked and you can actually see first hand how she's developing a character all of her own. :)

I'd take the free exhaust as a bonus.
David and John could install pipe later...cut thru plaster and brickwork. Are you able to measure where studs are in preparation for pipe??

Good Luck with house sale.

Hope you had a nice time away at least to make up for the stress when you got back. You have had a bit of a crappy run with brick and tile, but then you liked the new brick so I am sure you will like the new tiles better too.
I haven't done anything about a pipe or exhaust fan in the laundry, completely forgot about it because I haven't had a dryer in my laundry for years. Will have to sort something out there I think.
House is looking great btw.
