It's a sign of the times

Last night David & Meg went down to the block to put up our sign, and what a great job he did considering it was his birthday  and I was out wining & dining with the tennis girls!

Waiting for paperwork to arrive in the mail today then we should see a site start soon I hope.

Lost....but now found!!!

Yes, people, those pegs have now been found.   Armed with trusty mattock, shovel & my little digger, Mr GSI actually did DIY and after much digging we found those elusive pegs - one of them was within a bees appendage of one of the fence posts at the back of our property, so its amazing that the fencing guys didn't either dig it out or just pour concrete over it.   We feel much happier now and have actually put a mark on the back fence to show exactly where they are (I suppose it would have been much too much trouble for the fencer to do that).

While we were there we did our usual rounds and checked out Reinsey & Lozs house.  Now I only have one statement to make:    Where's the coffee Reinsey?

We have a building permit!

Baby steps continue with us, but surprise surprise, we received a copy of our building permit in the mail today!

Dated 15/3/2011, our contract states that the builder must commence works within 21 days of the date of the permit, so that makes it by early April!!!

Posts and Pegs

Visited today to try to recover our surveying pegs so we are ready for the builder.   Discovered that our front pegs are still there but the back ones have long gone.    There have been houses built at the back of us and the builders and fencing companies have absolutely no respect and consequently, we have no survey pegs left anymore at the back of our block.   So apart from us measuring the distance from the nearest fence, we are only guessing as to the position they should be.
What does one do?   Is it our responsibility to make sure the pegs are in the correct position, somehow I think so.   Will the developer come back and replace them? - probably not.   Me thinks I need to get the block surveyed ourself and make sure the pegs are in the correct position.   More expense!!
But better than the alternative - and we wouldn't want to find we had built on someone else's land.

Builder Update

Just a quickie, received email from Romeo Homes on Tuesday to say that our plans are currently with the engineers and are due back next week.   They can then apply for a building permit - when they obtain it, they must commence within 21 days.   Will I still see a start in March or will we be April Fools?
