Tiles, Hearths & Maps

Another day, another rostered house day off!!!   Today, we went out to Jetmaster in Richmond and chose the hearth to the fireplace -

We then went down to Ultimate Tiles in Narre Warren and spent two hours choosing our tiles for the bathroom, ensuite, laundry, toilet & kitchen.   The very helpful Joe down there was very patient with us (me!) and offered some very constructive advice on tile selections.  

Came away very happy with my choices and can't wait to see how they all look at the end.

Now the only decisions to make is to visit the cabinet-maker and do the kitchen, but that can wait now until - yes, you gussed it, - David's next rostered house day off!   God I love that man of mine, patience of a saint.

Oh and by the way there is another nearmap update online - Reinsey, your Mocha Choc Roof has made it to the map!!!   Maybe next time there will be something on our block.  Here it is:-

We just scraped in....

This morning I received a call from Romeo Homes telling me that they need to raise the level of the front of the house by 150mm so that the rear is not sitting too low on the block.   I said that sounded good to me and I enquired as to whether we were on track for Thursday's scrape.




We have taps!



Lo and behold he said that the excavator was on site as we speak............Yahoo!!!!!   So after work we all trundled down and this is what we found : -

But wait there's more:-

Scrape it to the right!

So, after 14 very long months of waiting, we can now officially say:

"WE HAVE STARTED BUILDING" !!!!!!!!

Site Start!

Received a call from Romeo Homes this morning to say that our site scrape is booked for 21st April!!!!  It was booked for next Monday but they want to let the site dry out a bit after the torrential downpour we received last night.   They also said that the house will be set out and fencing delivered on 27th April.

That's next Thursday!!!!!!!   I will still believe it when I see it, but it is only 9 sleeps away!!!!

The Why's & Who's of Patience

I've been doing a Reinsey today and I am feeling very philosophical in the absence of any significant action on our block now until between 19/4 & 3/5  (still at a loss to see how this stands contract wise being well over the 21 days) I have been doing a little research about patience:-

Happy birthday David!!

Here we are in the other red centre of the country celebrating David's birthday. Note the lovely stacked stone behind Reinsey! We are having the first glass and some delicious Camembert as well. We will need this break before all hell breaks loose with the build!

We had a great time.   Penola turned on the beautiful weather and we managed to visit the Mini Jumbuck factory store, and 4 Wineries!


Needless to say we did come back with some beautiful wine - pity about the internet access, it really did stink!  I have blog withdrawals.

I am off to paint our site pegs tomorrow morning, and will be delivering the required piece of paper to the builder in the morning, and will be asking them when we can expect a site start.   Their piece of paper says within 4 weeks of return of the piece of paper!?!?!   Reinsey will be in her house before we even begin at this rate.
